Central Homecare has over 10 years of experience in providing parenteral nutrition to both paediatric and adult patients at home. This expertise, coupled with a willingness to meet your precise needs by tailoring our service accordingly, means that you can rely on Central Homecare for all your home intravenous nutrition needs.

Process
- Wherever possible, we like to get involved in pre-discharge meetings with the clinical team so that we can fully understand key responsibilities of the hospital staff.
- We will review your prescribed formula(e) and let you know the shelf life of the feed(s).
- Home deliveries will be scheduled to match the expiry dates of the feed(s).
- Prior to delivery of the first feed, we will deliver all the ancillary equipment needed to the patient’s house. This will include such items as electronic infusion pump, drip stand and fridge. The choice of infusion pump is for you to decide. We carry a wide range of infusion pumps in stock and will do our utmost to meet your requirements; in any case we can advise on suitability. In the case of a fridge, early delivery will allow sufficient time for the coolant to settle after transport
- We will also supply all the consumable items required by the patient. This list will be agreed previously with your nutrition nurse specialist. By hand picking and supplying just the items required, we can monitor how closely your patient complies with your line care protocols
- Patients will be supplied with an appropriate sharps container. These will be removed at periodic intervals (at an agreed pre-arranged time) by an independent contractor licensed for the removal of clinical waste to current UK legal requirements
- Patients and clinical staff will have access to Central Homecare ’s 24-hour advice and support line
Central Homecare can respond very quickly to requests to set up a new parenteral nutrition patient at home. The rate determining step is usually establishing the stability of the formulation.
